Ironstone at Goodwill

I have admired ironstone that I have seen on other blogs but I do not have any myself.  Tonight I was at Goodwill and I saw this bowl and I thought it was so pretty, but not my color at all.  It was only 1.99 I could see by just glancing at it. So walking around Goodwill I thought--that bowl was really pretty and I am known to buy a random bowl once in awhile. So I thought I would go back and look at it again. Then I noticed a matching platter for $2.99. I really liked the platter.  I looked on the back and saw this...
Well, I am not educated at all about Ironstone but I figured for 4.98 I could get the bowl and platter and that would be a pretty good deal...even though the color isn't my usual.  So I came home and got on the computer and found the platter was selling for around $49.00 and the cereal bowl for $45.00.  So back to Goodwill I went to see if they had any other pieces and I ended up getting all this for $16.00. Pretty good, don't you think?  In my dreams someday I will have an etsy shoppe and maybe even sell at flea markets so I figured someday I'll sell them. For now I'll enjoy them. I certainly couldn't leave them at Goodwill!  I did leave pieces that were cracked and chipped--these are all perfect.
My $16.00 Goodwill purchase
They seem like they are so old--the pieces that were cracked and chipped I guess make me feel like they were really old. But they say they are dishwasher safe so how old could they be?
Wanted to share real quick how happy I am that my helpers and I got the fence painted when we did because this is how it looked today...
Oregon rain is here!

Meakin is a good make and although they aren't antique or even vintage they certainly look as if they might be which is all that matters!
Great find.

Super find! Sometime you can really come out of GW with some great items. Our GW is starting to get greeding and charging outrageous prices of stuff that's been donated to them. Anyway, love your new dishes!
