Adding Red to Christmas

At 50 years old I will say that until now I have never hung a red ornament. I have had pink trees, blue and silver trees, and all white, but never a hint of RED could be found on my tree. My kids this year mentioned they would like a little more color in the Christmas decorations...and I surprised them and myself and added some red!

My Swedish blood is finally showing in my decorating.
Wyatt's Nutcracker collection looks great with the new color scheme.

I painted some of the frames on the tree in my favorite Red--Emperor's Silk.

Jaxon helped us pick out the tree this year--we were lazy and didn't cut it ourselves but just picked one out from the Elk's lodge.

Kids just make Christmas more magical.

I have a really bad habit of really getting stressed over the holidays. I am trying to relax a bit--I just want all my family to have a great Christmas and I always feel like it is up to me to make it happen. My goal this year is to just relax a bit. It is easier said than done.

As I sit here at my laptop I feel so blessed with my beautiful little home and my loving family. My heart aches for those who do not have a warm and happy place this holiday season. I can't even imagine being outside in this freezing weather--both for people and for animals.

Wishing you all warm and happy December days!

Thanks for visiting!

The added touches of red make a nice addition.
I also feel so blessed with a warm home, family, friends, my doggies and faith.

It all really does look lovely! I inherited a bunch of red ornaments from my in-laws and wouldn't you know it? I found out I liked them, too:)

I think you've added just enough red Sandy. It all looks so festive. I have chosen this year to cut down on the red because it gets so hot here and red makes me more so. Stay warm and Happy Christmas to you and your family xx

This is a beautiful post...both in decorations, and in your thoughts. The color red adds energy and looks so pretty with your other decor. You gave us such a loving Thanksgiving, I hope you will all enjoy Christmas Eve at our home this year.

Hello Sweetie, what a fabulous collection of nutcrackers you have! Your kids must be happy that you took their advice and added some color to their world for Christmas. You know that I'm all about red and this is the first year that I am toning it down...and staying more neutral with just some pops here and there. This is the first post that I've received from you in a while, so I'm gonna check out your past ones to see if there are any that I have missed. Wishing you a ton of fun this season!

Yes kids do make it very magical, but what's so very magical is your placement of your beautiful tree with the back drop of your dinning space.
Love the nutcracker collection, and your frames of red dressing up your tree.

Thank you Sandy for taking the time to visit me, and adding joy to my days to come with your beautiful time in commenting.

Happy holidays to you and that little one

I am chuckling SO hard about the red! I just got DONE with red after having so much red in my house I decided it all goes back to neutrals! Even painted red vinyl chairs in Graphite mixed with white. Loved it. But I admit--the red in your pics is SO delicious.
