Living room changes--Ikea slipcover

For Christmas this year Janae bought me an floral Ikea slipcover that I had been wanting. It costs 3x what the regular white one cost so I couldn't justify getting it for myself. Janae always spoils me!

It is so fun for a change! Now that we have lived in this house for 3 years I find myself ready to change some of the decorating. Notice I re-painted the coffee table to coordinate with the new slipcover.

I am loving the new look!

I still have 2 white chairs in the living room. I am planning to make some pillows for the chairs in the taupe color.

I so need to make a lamp shade for my floor lamp!

This chair is so comfy--Duke thinks so too!

I have never seen this slipcover on any other blog--which surprises me because I think it is so pretty!

So here is how it looked before...

and here it is now...

Honestly--I like both looks. Change is fun. I think the way it looks now is a little more homey looking. I like that I still have my white chairs...and the pattern now too...makes me happy!

Several bloggers have posted about the Waterlogue app you can get for the iPhone. I'm hooked! I love the look of a watercolor painting. I don't have an iPhone so I have to borrow my daughters...and she thinks she can't be without her phone for 2 seconds. (so I have to borrow it quickly)  Here is a couple I have done so far...

I think it is so fun!

In other news at our house...Gage is doing well. He is really sick with the RSV but he is being sweet and sleeping a lot. No more seizure activity--thank goodness.

I forgot to mention on my last post...Chantel got her drivers permit!

She is a mature, responsible kid. So why am I so terrified when she is driving? I can't believe my kids are all growing up so fast.

Speaking of growing up fast...the Guinea pig babies are almost 5 weeks old. We have decided they are both girls--their names are Penny and Willow.

They are so adorable!

Thanks for visiting!

The slipcover looks great! You're a girl after my own heart...I love change, too...I change out my decor, paintings, window treatments, and pillows at least 6x a year. This month its all red and pink, hearts and roses and candles for Valentines:). One of these days I need to take some pictures to show you, huh?! I agree, your guinea pigs ARE adorable (and I don't even usually like guinea pigs..have had them over the years and they were just annoying and bit us!:( ). So glad Gage's seizures are over, poor kid having RSV on top of that (and poor you). glad he is able to sleep so much. And I love the watercolor app too (I do have an iphone for work, so I need to get that app!). Watercolor is my favorite fine art form actually:).

I'm very behind on looking at my favorite blogs. I've had a bad year so far too. It seems like it's been a bad start for a lot of people especially with the weather. I'm just glad Chicago is staying above zero now!
I feel so bad for Gage. He is just too cute to be going through all that! He does seem to be fighter though!
There are so many people here (including me) that have been sick for this whole year so far. It's a cold that turns into a cough & respiratory issues that just won't go away.
I have to check out that app. I just saw it on another blog & thought it was pretty cool.
That sale you guys went to looks amazing! It must be hard to control yourself. I'd want everything!
A blog friend of mine was having a bad year too so we decided to start the year over on March 1. We're hoping all the bad stuff for the year is just getting over with early so that the rest of the year can be wonderful!

Love the look, so pretty! Is your couch from Ikea originally? If not does the cover fit well? Thinking about getting some myself.

You new slipcover is so pretty Sandy! I love it!!!! I always love to see the inside of your pretty house.
I'm so sorry Gage has been sick. It's so hard when they are sick because it always brings on the seizures doesn't it? It makes it difficult to keep them safe. Landon has a habit of always falling to the left and blacking the same eye. I sure hope Gage gets better soon Sandy.
sending hugs...

Sandy, your new slipcover is lovely! I love the way that it, along with, the beautiful makeover on your table, warms the room. '
I am so glad that Gage is peacefully recovering, and congratulations to Chantelle! It never gets, or is easier when one of our children hits that milestone, is it?
Finally, those guinea babies are so precious <3
Thank you for sharing <3

Sandy, your new sofa slipcover and redone table look fabulous. I would be happy to just have slipcovers that fit. We have our old camel back sofa and love seat from the 1980's and I have white Surefit slipcovers and white Ikea slipcovers, but neither are made for the sofa and are very ill fitting. Maybe some day I'll get an Ikea sofa and slipcovers! Love your little Guinea pigs - theya re too cute for words! And yes, it is so hard to see our kids grow up! My girls are in their mid to late 20's. Seems like yesterday they were babies. Time flies, doesn't it?

Sandy, I am SO looking forward to spring, too!!! I forgot to tell you the last time I commented, I have the exact same white cat that you have in front of your fireplace! I also have a black cat in that same position. And a third white cat in a sitting position. I just love them! Yours looks great on the hearth!
