Goodwill Bookcase

While at Goodwill a couple weeks ago I found this little bookcase. It is not antique, it isn't even vintage, so it is not the type of thing that usually catches my eye. It actually had stickers on it that said, :Inspected by 5".  But I knew I could make it cute and I wanted it. Janae said I should get it because she hates it when I moan about something I didn't get at Goodwill. At Goodwill I never have buyers regret--it is that I didn't buy it regret that gets to me.

So this is how it looks now that I have "fixed it up"..

This is how it looked when I bought it...

I knew that with the paneled back, and the detailed edges I could make this cute!

I painted the inside of it Martha Stewart's River Mist--the same as the teacup cabinet which is now sitting on top of it.

The perfectionist in me is saying it isn't done yet. Even my husband agrees it needs some little feet. I don't like it when I can't see under something and it needs a little more height so it is in better proportion to the teacup cupboard.  I also think that the top of it needs the lace technique--like I did here. Then it will be perfect! I plan to use it as a place to keep all my vases..that soon I will need easy access to because I love flowers in the house!

Thanks for visiting!

I agree.... feet for the cabinet!

I haven't been to Goodwill since October looking for Halloween stuff. I really need to stop by since I will be looking at things in a whole new "blogging" light.

Great find and lovely room. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a message. You asked me if I had a suggestion on a paint for an aqua room and I do. I found this color on a blog I was visiting. It is Sherman Williams Interesting Aqua. The post I was looking at is:

Hi Sandy!

You lucky duck! I swear that you and Janae are always so lucky at GW!
It is a perfect fit fo the tea cabinet and just the right width for that space. Little legs would be great, giving it a little more presence. I also love those aqua beeswax candles!

Btw... hoping to get to the PO tomorrow morning before it closes... I'll let you know.

I love what you've done with your bookcase. Its beautiful! So much better. Ok...how about you running on over here and doing my desk hutch dealy. Its plain ol basic stained brown. You can see it on one of my posts in Dec. about gingerbread or something. Or maybe it was in Nov. I'd have to go back and look.

Thanks for always commenting on my blog. I appreciate the compliment about it being well themed. I know some gals would never use paper anything but sometimes there is no other way. But the little bit I did use in the napkins and salad plates weren't too bad I thought. Anyway it meant alot that you took the time to comment. You made my day!!

Hugs,

Nann

That came out GORGEOUS!!! LOVE it!! You visited my blog and asked what color paint is on the blue walls (I showcased my armoire). The paint is still up in the attic. When hubby gets it down to touch up, I will post the color!
