Paying it forward

A few months ago a sweet blogger sent me a milk glass knob that she didn't need after reading that I like milk glass knobs. She said no need to pay her for it..just pay it forward.

I feel like there has been so many good things in my life that I want to pay it forward for. I don't have the financial means to do a lot for other people, but I try to do what I can, when I can.

My Mom told me about a lady that works at our local Bi-Mart and is a follower of my blog. She doesn't leave comments, but she always talks to my Mom about things she enjoys from my blog. My Mom had told me she really thought the melted roses I made were beautiful. I thought a nice thing I could do for her is make her a couple melted roses.

I made them with white and pink satin that was given to me by one of my Mother's friends. I got the buttons on sale half price at JoAnn's. I love these blingy buttons!

I made a little lace bag to hold these melted roses and my Mom is going to deliver them to Bi-mart. I hope this sweet follower really enjoys them.

I also wanted to share a couple thrift store finds. A few weeks ago I found this cherub frame for $2. I have always loved cherubs. It was an off white color and gold..so I painted it white and rub and buffed it. I think it is so sweet!

Then I was really delighted to find this old mirror at Goodwill for 2.99!

Tray for Mom

My Mom found a tray at a garage sale the other day for 75 cents. Though useful, I thought I could make it prettier. My parents recently painted one of the walls in their kitchen red. I had the sample from when I was helping them choose the color and so I used it to paint the tray.

I added the lace technique, and it made for a very pretty tray!

It started out looking like this.

Amazing what a little paint can do!

Mom was pleased!

I have told the kittens "no more bottle" and they are not happy with me. Though they drink and eat just fine on their own it is like a baby getting rid of their pacifier...they don't want to give up the bottle. To get them to look for a picture all I have to do is hold up a bottle.  Kind of mean of me. But you do what you have to for a picture.:)

Phoebe says, "I'm outta here"
The kids only have 1.5 days of school left, and the kittens are eating by themselves. I see sleep in my future:)! I always like when the kids don't have school. When I can get some extra sleep in the morning I get so much more done during the day. Besides that, I just like having the kids home. Fighting and all.

Right now I am enjoying my last bouquet of Peonies for this year. I will miss them!

The Cottage Look

My sun room is getting more girly by the day. It is turning into a room that just makes me happy. It has all the pretty things. The rest of the family seems fine with it so I am having fun giving it a sort of cottage look. It is now all about me in there.

I remembered this painted window that I bought about 10 years ago on Ebay. It used to our in our kitchen in my pink kitchen days--and moved to our pink bedroom after that. Now I think it looks good in "my room". Wyatt doesn't understand why I would have something that said "Bed and Breakfast" in a room with no bed or breakfast. I told him to just go with it:)

I bought a few things from this same lady on Ebay. One of the other things I brought into this room too.

I have always loved cherubs so what drew me to this piece was the painted cherubs and the cherub applique.

I enjoy having a place for these again.

I thought I would share a photo of Wyatt helping me with the 1:30 am feeding last night. The kittens are starting to eat on their own...but they prefer the bottle. I am getting really anxious for them to become independent. Poor Wyatt looks exhausted too!

Today was such a beautiful day! I got some weeding done...some painting done. Wish I would have gotten more done. I always wish there were more hours in the day!

My Peonies are just about done. The season seems so short! I am so going to miss these beautiful flowers.

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Fun little project

I love taking a inexpensive item from Goodwill and making it cute. That is my idea of fun. I found a little wooden tote at Goodwill for $2.99 and knew I could make it adorable!

So I am cheating a little on the adorable factor with the kittens added to the project. :)

It started out as a dark wooden box.

Then I added some white paint on the outside...pink on the inside.

Added some of my new favorite thing french water slide decals (you can get them here.)

Add some flowers,  it looks so pretty!

Add some kittens,  it is nothing short of adorable!

I am really happy with this little wooden tote!

Worthy of a post

Several people have commented that the basket of kittens is worthy of its own post. So this proud Kitty Mama has more to show.

These little ones are growing up so fast. They have started getting teeth and a couple of  them are using the litterbox .Every little thing they do makes me proud...like they are my children! My sleep schedule has reminded me of when our twins were newborns.

The sad thing is my ex-husband found their real Mothers body in a field near their home. Nothing but bones and fur. Poor thing. She died trying to protect these sweet babies. I'm so glad these babies have a chance at a better life.

Phoebe wants me to pay attention to her, not to blogging:)

My Iris' are looking so beautiful...

My Peonies are my favorite but their days are numbered. I wish they would last all summer!

Thanks to all of you for all your kind comments about my pink door! I feel confident now it was the right choice. My husband a couple days after I painted it finally noticed...he walks by it many times a day and never noticed it. Weird to me, I notice EVERYTHING! He said pink isn't his favorite color, but he thinks it looks good with my other accents. He said it really shows off the flowers. So all is good with the pink door:)

Working on a fun little project so stay tuned to see it!

Thanks for visiting. Your comments make my day!

My Soul Paint

As the commercial said I would, I think I found my soul paint. I finally finished painting my sun room/creative space. (well almost)  I just love the color. It is Clark and Kensington Harbor Lane.

The color is just what I wanted. In actuality it looks like a Tiffany's blue color. If I had to describe it I would say it is refreshing. It makes me happy.

I am always jealous of all these bloggers that have pink doors. I have seen pink front doors, and back doors, and I always think they look so cute!  The previous owners of this house never painted this back door on the inside. It was just a primer color. I painted it white and it looked good..but it needed another coat and I was out of white paint. What to do? I had some pink paint:) This is Behr Delicate blush..I had gotten a sample of it after seeing Sissie use it. It is a great color..but do you think it is too much? Should I go a lighter pink? I know that I can over do pink because I love pink. It is only paint, so it can easily be changed. My husband hasn't said a thing. I wonder if he noticed?

I painted the back of the hutch the same color as the door. Janae didn't like it the same color as the wall which is what it was. I agreed and so painted it Delicate Blush.

This room is actually a walk thru room. The door you see belongs to my husbands man cave. Probably not a good idea to paint that door pink. LOL. This walk thru room is kind of turning into my "women cave".

At our house you just never know where a basket full of kittens might show up!

As you can see in the above picture this little area has remakes in waiting. I use this desk all the time. I have had it over a year and am yet to remake it...but I think it has a lot of potential. It is on my "want to get it done" list. Then there is that lamp..it looked cute at my other house..but doesn't fit in here. I have plans for it to be shabby chic beautiful too! Then I have to make a cover for that printer. So much to do!

I haven't had my ruffled tablecloth on the table for awhile. I love it..I almost forgot how pretty it is. I am also loving my pink Peonies blooming right now. I wish they would bloom all summer!

In the interest of reality blogging the following picture shows what I didn't get done.

I get a little wobbly way up there so my husband said he would do it. He is not always in a hurry to get things done. :(

The old color is shown in the photo below.

I think the new color is so much more "me"...my soul color :)

To end this post I will show you our beautiful sunset tonight. It was even more lovely than the photo shows.
