My Petite Hutch

I have never posted about my little hutch, even though it is one of my favorite pieces, because I have never finished it!  For 3 years now I have been trying to find hardware worthy of my cute little hutch.

Last night I painted the back the color I got at Ace (Ocean Falls). When I bought this years ago at Goodwill it was pink. It is actually a hutch for a bedroom but I love the small size of it, and it is always great to have another place to put a chair.

I added this rose applique to the top from Do it yourself chic. I love all their appliques, but this is one of my favorites, and I think the first one I ever got from them.

I love all the details on this cute little hutch. My daughter Janae liked mine so much she was able to find the same one on Craigslist. Hers when she got it, was lime green!

I use it to store our everyday dishes and other little pretty things I love.

I think the new color is looking really pretty. I had the back part painted a more green color, and then when we moved here I painted it white because it didn't look very good with the wall color. Now I am thinking nothing I have is going well with that color. I'm anxious to get the whole room painted.

The reason I haven't gotten hardware is because the drawer pulls have a 4 inch space--that is hard to find! It came with only one of the original pulls--I need 2 more. I would love to get a blue milk glass knob for the drawer.

With the white in the back

With "Ocean Falls" as the back color

I think it looks so much better with color in the back! I do think that wall color has got to go--the sooner the better!

Thanks for visiting!

I LOVE that hutch, and the ocean falls color in the back is perfect. my "Ideal" decorating style is cottage, and seeing all your white decor every day makes me wish I could move from my dark, craftsman-style home into an English cottage in the countryside:)

What a pretty hutch. Did you know that you can drill new holes in the wood for whatever size handles or knobs you find? My husband has for some of our projects, sometimes the handles cover up the holes. If not, you can always use putty and then sand it smooth and paint it. Hope you find the perfect handles or knobs:)

What a darling hutch! And the aqua interior just nakes it (IMHO *winks*) I just saw handles like that at a local antique store. If you give me your exact measurements for them maybe they'll be a match? Wouldn't that be something?! Vanna

I am totally in love with your gorgeous hutch! I had a desk and hutch just like that growing up, though yours of course is so much prettier! In fact my mom still has it, I just may have to "steal" it from her! I really love the aqua that you painted on the back, and the applique that you added is just stunning!!

I love those do it yourself rose appliques they add so much charm to a piece and yours is certainly lovely. I love all the details. Have you checked flea markets? They are a good place to find drawer pulls. Peggy @ pjhdesignsoneofakind.blogspot.com

Hi Sandy!

That hutch is SO you! All the items displayed are so pretty.

I went to that link you shared and checked out the hardware page. A few look like they have a center screw... maybe that will work if the outer span will cover the existing holes.

I love the color in the back of the hutch. I agree that maybe the wall color would be better more neutral with a grey tone....but how fabulous is the hutch!! Love teh applique, gonna go check out your link.
