Handmade Gifts and Easter Day

I find myself at the end of a wonderful Easter day. The house looks like a hurricane struck. Clean clothes are piled in my big chair...candy wrappers are lying around on the floor along with pieces of Easter grass. (though my kids swear they would never leave stuff around like that) Until a few minutes ago dishes were stacked everywhere with not an inch of counter space left. Gage's toys and blankets are covering every inch of the livingroom floor which is in need of being vacuumed. But today was a good day.  I had a week previously of being sick with a fever,  so for now I have to let it go. I hate a messy house..but I love a fun Easter spent with family.

Here are Janae's Easter presents that I made this week, sick and all. She loved them so it was all worth it!

Above is a flour sack dish towel that I made her from a graphic from The Graphic Fairy. We both love Ball jars so thought this was cute.  I don't know how well the iron on will hold up so I told her just to use it to look cute:)

I made her a basket full of napkin rings with napkins. You can never have too many of those!

I gave her an Ikea little "lace bucket" with flowers from the yard and then my favorite thing...the ruffled table runner like the one I made myself not long ago. Of course..I improved upon hers--made it longer (she has a longer table than I do) and I made the ruffles more ruffly. I just can't get enough ruffles--and the more ruffled the better! I dyed a sheet and that is what I  used for the fabric.

Onto Easter day...

We had such a lovely day just spending time with family and especially spending time with my parents and my sister dying Easter eggs over at my parents house. I wish we had gone to church but it is so hard to do with Gage. Never know if he will be good or not, and there aren't many churches with a place to take him if he decides to be loud. Oh well.

Here we are decorating eggs...

Me with my Grand puppies--starting to feel better

Here is my Mom--showing off her cart I made her along with an apron I made her a year or two ago. Notice how her valances match her cart liner. She loves strawberries!

Then it was out to the yard to do a Easter egg hunt. My Mom hide over 90 eggs with candy and money in them!

After having a couple Jello Jigglers Gage was giggly.

Then home we went to play in the yard with bubbles from the Easter baskets.

Are you still with me? Whew this is a long post. One more thing to share...we stopped at my favorite park to take pictures and got this picture of all 4 kids together. So hard to get one of all of them. Glad I got a decent one!

I haven't had a fever all day and though not totally back to myself yet
I am hoping this week to change from the sick Easter Bunny to the Energizer Bunny! I want to clean this house top to bottom, work in the yard and get at least something done on my lists of projects. Stay tuned for some project posts (I hope) Wish me luck with the Energizer Bunny thing:)

Thanks for visiting!

I love your long posts! Makes me feel like I was "there" with your celebrations! I too had a LONG Easter weekend- wasn't sick (thankfully!) but it was Ciara's 21st and guess what she did for her bday? had all her girlfriends come to our house for 10 hours on Saturday for a "dreadhead" party, and they put her hair in dreadlocks! SERIOUSLY. It actually looks pretty good, albeit bohemian! I'll have to post pics. LOVE YOU !

You made so many cute gifts for Janae. I really love the towel, its so cute. I'm so sorry you've been sick, but happy you're on the mend.I hope the energizer bunny kicks in. I know how annoying it is when the house is a wreck. Take care of yourself and don't push too much.

Glad you're starting to feel better. Sounds like you had an eventful day yesterday. I want to go to your parent's for an egg hunt if they put money in the eggs!

Hi Sandy! I do hope you become the energizer bunny! I would not mind that for myself either to be honest! Although I do have some days when I'm flying! But the next day, well, I'm paying for it. I guess the secret is to just pace ourself. I see you had a beautiful family day. That egg hunt looks like a lot of fun. We never had that when I was a child. We did not have that custom in French Canadian families. Perhaps the English Canadians did, I would not know. We had our Easter straw basket of goodies waiting for us on the kitchen table when we got up and it was always filled to the hilt with an assortment of goodies! By the way, that was a beautiful gift you gave Janae!
