Halloween Pet Costumes

We always dress our pets up for halloween...usually much more than we dress ourselves up!

When Chantel dressed her hamster up as a pirate I laughed so hard. He is so adorable! Now she found a small pirates ship at Goodwill that she is going to put him in to enter a local Petco costume contest.

Janae has been totally amazing me. Those of you that know her know about how great she is at doing pet portraits. She has several entries in the Petsmart costume contest, and they are all amazing. The day she dressed Bunny FuFu as a rocker and put him on a small motorcycle I thought it was one of the cutest things ever!

Today she was over at the house taking pictures of Lacie the ladybug on our front porch.

She took these photos of Louie the other day and I was so amazed she got this picture of him "roaring".

To see more of Janae's entries and to vote for her through Facebook please go here
To vote for Walter go  here

You can vote for as many as you want, and you may vote everyday. The top prize is $10,000.00! Wouldn't it be amazing if Janae won?!
The entries are so cute. I am proud of her.

Phoebe isn't planning to enter the contest but she thought you would model a dress today.

Painting Vases

I have been sick the last week, as have my boys. I am getting a little stir crazy being at home all the time doing nothing and projects have been flooding my mind as I look thru all the blogs on my reading list. I have seen several people doing painted vases and when I saw this post done by Shannon at Fox Hollow Cottage that was it. I had to try it.

This is what I ended up with. I am quite pleased what a couple bucks and a little bit of time can do!

The first thing I did was run to Goodwill to pick up some vases. I had to laugh at myself--how many of this type of vase have I donated to Goodwill in the past? Oh well, they were only a dollar to two dollars each, so I guess at least I didn't have to store them. If we all saved everything that might be a future project we would all be hoarders:)

So I decided to get white vases--you can also get any other glass vase that strikes your fancy.

I mixed up some chalk paint (which adheres well to glass) and put 2 coats on each vase.

I already finished the small one before I remembered to take this picture!

Then I got a sanding block and sanded just enough to give it a time worn look.

I'm lovin' it!

I added some buttons and pins to glam them up a bit, and I thought a bit of burlap would add a bit of fall to the look.

I think they look quite pretty! It is a project easy enough that even a sickie like me right now can handle doing.  As Shannon said on FB, your cat could do it! Okay--so my cats aren't actually that talented. I had to lock them in Chantel's room so they would stay out of the paint!

White Wednesday

I have been sick the last couple days. Had a fever that really put me into a do nothing mode. But, my boys were sick too--so this Mom had to do some things. After a lot of sleep I woke up without a fever and feeling so much better--I found myself wanting to do something fun. I always get inspired by going through my reading list and found that there is going to be no more White Wednesday parties. I was sad but I know someone will come up with a similar party. So in honor of the last party I went around and took a few pictures of white things I love.

I love my white ruffly valance.

New white winter flowers on the front porch...

Gotta love a nice white seating area with a white picket fence and a white pumpkin sitting on white wicker!

One of the things I love about white is how clean and pure it is. It makes everything look pretty.

My white bedskirt turned tablecloth is my most popular post ever.

One of my favorite projects was making this cute little white fence for my dining area.

On another note..

we are having a little problem with "teenage cats" lately. I love my animals but expect them to obey the rules of the house, just like the rest of us.

Meet the naughty bottle.

This is what we use to stop the dogs from barking at the neighbor dog, and now it is being used to keep the cats off the dining table and kitchen counter. A spray of water and they seem to get the message.

You can see the look of shame Fez has on his face (I just had to take a picture, even though the kitchen is a mess because my husband has today off)--he was actually drinking my iced tea! Teenage cat and caffeine--not good I am guessing! I tried to spray him right after I took the picture but he was already outta there. Hopefully the training won't take too long. Wish us luck.

Enjoy the last White Wednesday!

Fall is here...like it or not

I don't love Fall. I like every season other than Fall actually. I don't like the colors, and  I don't like trying to get back into the school routine. But though I try to pretend it isn't here..it is, like it or not.

So I decided to take  my pretty white lace covered coffee table off the front porch and replace it with a neighbors tree stump.

I am kind of thinking it looks cute. It will weather all the Oregon rainfall so much better than the cute little summer table.

I got this little Chihuahua planter at Goodwill. I couldn't resist it--how cute is that?

I got a lot of house work done yesterday which makes me proud of myself since I wasn't feeling well. Wyatt was really sick but his fever has broke (after overdosing him with vitamin C) and he wants to go to school tomorrow. Gage has a fever now too. I am feeling better today. I plan to reward myself for housecleaning well done by reading the newest issue of Romantic Country tonight.

Fez and Phoebe were spayed and neutered this week and they don't seem to even notice anything happened. Phoebe was in a mad mood the  first day but now they are back to their crazy cat selves.

I am loving that my roses are still looking beautiful!

A Shabby Chic Birthday

I can't believe that Janae is 23. Where did the years go? I couldn't be more proud of her. She has turned out exactly as I had hoped she would.

I have been busy working on some birthday gifts for her. I can't afford to buy a lot of expensive gifts...but I can make her pretty things!

After seeing these type of Angel wings on several blogs I came up my own version of them. I am so pleased with them! They took me awhile to make...but now I want to make some for me!

I can think of like 100 places I would like to have these for myself :)
Now I need to make some for me!

I decided that since Janae's birthday is right before halloween decorating time I have decided to "primp a pumpkin" for her every year. Last year I made one that will look good with this years...pretty soon she will have a pumpkin patch!

Now I want one of these too!

My favorite gift I made for her was this dreamcatcher...

I think Bella likes it!

This was inspired by Tausha at Simply Me. I have adored her dreamcatchers for a long time and she was sweet enough to let me know where to get the hoop and stuff. If anyone wants a tutorial sometime let me know. It was really fun to make and I am so happy with how it turned out. If you want to buy one I suggest contacting Tausha. Hers are gorgeous!

I want to make a blue one for my bedroom--I want to make a bunch actually--really love it!

Chantel made Janae a bracelet and bought her a ring, also some pretties for her hair. Wyatt got her a shabby chic clock and Gage got her some of those beautiful peony like tulip bulbs.  Jerry and I also got her some Simply Shabby Chic British rose pillows for her guest bedroom--they came today, just in time!

Tonight boyfriend Sidney took her out. Tomorrow night her and I will continue the celebration with sushi and a movie!

Happy Birthday Janae...we love you!

I hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer. Thanks for visiting!

Sidewalk Chalk Art

For years the city of Forest Grove has had a sidewalk chalk art day. I have always wanted to do one but I can't draw :( The kids, the dogs, and I went to see the artwork tonight.

I was so amazed by the talent!

The  kids and I really enjoyed it...when we saw a scary one Lacie (Janae's dog) growled at it. So I guess it was pretty realistic!

A friends high school age son did this one...

I love the ones with eyes...amazing!

I'm not sure how many there were--but basically the whole town was covered!

Another friends daughter did this one...

I really enjoy this every year and it is a goal of mine to have a spot some year. I can't draw...but Wyatt and Chantel can!

If you have a teenage daughter you probably know this is One Direction...

Which one is your favorite? I have a hard time choosing a favorite!

Time to go home.

Hope you enjoyed our small town chalk art!
