Thrifting and Flowers

Two of my favorite things...thrifting and flowers. I haven't found anything while thrifting the last month or so, so I was happy when I recently found some things at Goodwill. Just small things--but things that make me happy!

First of all I found this little valance for only $2.99!

I think it looks really cute on my pink back door.

It saves me the work of making one and I couldn't buy the lace for that price.

Then I saw this cute little bunny figurine..but it was $6.99. I am on a strict budget so decided I really didn't need it. Then it went on half price an I just had to get it!

Those little bunnies just look too cute sleeping on my front porch

My last favorite find of late was this Simply Shabby Chic pillow sham.

I have wanted this for so long! I have to admit I dove to it to get it before Janae did (sorry Janae) and I was so happy to find it!

My Grandpuppy Bentley found it to be quite comfortable when he was missing his Mama.
This Simply Shabby Chic sham is the one that inspired me to make this pillow awhile ago...

Which seems to be Fez's favorite!

Anyway--got the Simply Shabby Chic pillow sham for $4.99. Gotta love Goodwill!

My flowers are just going crazy...which is another simple pleasure of mine. Thought I would share some photos of my beautiful flowers.

My Peonies this year are huge!

My son, Wyatt, did a double take at my roses the other day and said, "Are those real?"

I consider that a compliment!

To end this post a cute picture of Janae and her babies when they came to visit the other day...

Thanks for visiting!

Cottages of the Week

Janae and I are so honored to be the "cottages" of the week with Andrea at "The Cottage Market".

It was so fun to see how someone else sees our homes, the photos she choose to feature, and her sweet comments. It made our day!

Here is where you can see the post...

Tell Andrea I sent you!

Blue Roses On The Bed

I love fabric with blue roses. I have not had much finding it as of late so I was so happy when I found this comforter at Goodwill!

I have white comforters that I like on the bed, but have been thinking I want to add some pattern to the bedroom.  I was really happy to find this.

It is a Laura Ashley comforter and the fabric is just perfect!

I figured as long as I am taking pictures in the bedroom I would take a few more. I kept taking Phoebe off the bed to take pictures and she just kept jumping back on.

She loves the new comforter!

I haven't done hardly anything to change our bedroom since we moved here a couple years ago. One of the first blog posts I ever did was on our bedroom and it continues to be one of my most viewed posts :)

"Aren't we done yet Mom?"

One thing I hope to do this summer is stencil the wall behind the bed like I did here. That would add just the right amount of needed pattern I think.

To end this post I wanted to share this picture of Duke. This is where he sits everyday at 2:30--it is like he can tell time--and he waits for the kids to come home from school.

What a good boy he is.

Hope your week is going well--thanks for visiting!

Applique Sale and Papa is here!

I have not been getting much done lately. I have lots of things I want to work on but we have been having a lot of rain and I have just been enjoying staying cozy in the house. Janae let me know about a sale that I wanted to share with everyone---because it is a great one!

Do it Yourself Chic is having 25% off all appliques and free shipping in the US starting tomorrow and ending on Monday (Memorial day). You can find them here.  This is the place where I get the appliques I use on furniture and crafts to make them have that extra special appeal. What a sale! I wish I was rich--I would stock up! I went around the house and took some pictures of my favorites.

I really love using these and the quality from Do it yourself chic is really good. I have been pleased.

My Father in law is visiting us from Oklahoma. He picked a good time to visit I think! It has been wonderful having him here. He moved to Oklahoma 3 years ago and we hadn't seen him in all that time. I am so glad the kids especially get to see him.

Rather than calling him Grandpa we have always called him Papa.

Janae had us all over for pizza the other day. It is so nice to have a grown daughter to do things like that :)

Taking a picture in the mirror

Lacie usually won't let anybody she doesn't know pick her up..but she seemed to know Papa is a good guy...and a big dog lover!

Although I hate to put Papa to work while he is here Jerry (my husband) and Papa have been getting a lot done! They built this wheelchair ramp for Gage--

They also built the back fence. Jerry's brother Shane helped too. It went up so quickly. No more fence blowing over on windy days!

I hope this finds everyone well...and please do take advantage of the Do it yourself chic sale if you feel inspired :)

A life changing thought

I used to worry about everything. I had a lot to worry about--4 kids, one disabled... a business that was beginning to fail in this horrible economy. I had to deal with so much stress. I still do.

But a few years ago I made a life changing decision. I decided I wasn't going to worry. I was going to do what I felt I needed to do to take care of my kids and pray about things that are a concern to me, but I wasn't going to cause myself to get physically sick with worry. I have learned to have faith things are going to be alright.

I sold my business. I stay home with my kids and we are all okay. My husband works hard to a job that doesn't pay well, but also doesn't cause him to be sick with worries. We have learned to live with less, but we have also learned to be happy!

A neighborhood church had this quote on the readerboard and it is perfectly how I feel...

"Worrying won't stop the bad from happening..it just stops you from enjoying the good"

I thought I would share this since I know there is so much to worry about in this world...

I hope you go out and enjoy the good!

New Necklace and Pretty flowers

Mother's day is just around the corner...and being the Mother of 4 kids I feel like it is "my" day. :) My son Gage is unable to get me a gift by himself  so I thought I would help him out and buy myself something from him. I saw these personalized necklaces on Etsy and wanted one really bad...and I just knew this is what Gage wanted to get me (LOL)

A lady on Etsy made this all I had to do is e-mail the picture.

I was so impressed with the quality workmanship and how pretty and sparkly it is. On the back it says, "I'll hold your hand for awhile..but your heart for always". She will personalize it with whatever you want it to say.

If you just know your child would want you to have one too you can get one here. I love mine so I thought I would share. :)

I also thought I would share some of the beautiful flowers I have been enjoying. I was so excited to see my first roses of the year blooming!

Fresh cut roses in the house make me happy!

I was happy to bring some snowballs in the house too.

My recently planted annuals are just loving this beautiful weather we have been having!

The yellow tree in front of our house is blooming...

It is such a beautiful time of year!
