I used to worry about everything. I had a lot to worry about--4 kids, one disabled... a business that was beginning to fail in this horrible economy. I had to deal with so much stress. I still do.
But a few years ago I made a life changing decision. I decided I wasn't going to worry. I was going to do what I felt I needed to do to take care of my kids and pray about things that are a concern to me, but I wasn't going to cause myself to get physically sick with worry. I have learned to have faith things are going to be alright.
I sold my business. I stay home with my kids and we are all okay. My husband works hard to a job that doesn't pay well, but also doesn't cause him to be sick with worries. We have learned to live with less, but we have also learned to be happy!
A neighborhood church had this quote on the readerboard and it is perfectly how I feel...
"Worrying won't stop the bad from happening..it just stops you from enjoying the good"
I thought I would share this since I know there is so much to worry about in this world...
I hope you go out and enjoy the good!
Thanks for visiting :)
Good morning sweetie,
ReplyDeleteI know about the stress that worry causes and I have been there so many times.
Thank you for putting it into perspective.
Hugs
Sissie
sandy, thank you for sharing such a lovely thought with us today. It is a help to be reminded to put life into perspective. We have all been there many times. xx
ReplyDeleteSo true! Always good to hear that reminder. I have felt much freer once I let go of my worry. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteSandy, this is a wise & beautiful post. I'm glad you copied that thought from the church because I've been trying to remember it to share with my class. I'm so proud of you, & your ability to handle all the stress!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sentiment and reminder. I especially needed to read that today. The last few months, life has been "messy" as it sometimes is for all of us. I have literally been physically ill with worry. Great reminder!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
That is so wise of you Sandy, I think it is so much energy wasted in worrying. I often just hope for the best and it usually happens. Trying to be in the moment is difficult but you seem to have made the real life transition. Good for you, as I always have believed " a happy mom = happy kids" and a happier home life.
ReplyDeleteSandy,
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful! Less really is more!
Blessings,
Amy Jo
Sandy,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this beautiful post today. So true in every way. We are human and stress is part of life but to override the negative with positive makes the journey all worth it. Thanks for the inspiration today.
Kris
Wise and true words! That is what worry accomplishes, it keeps you from enjoying the good and makes you sick. It isn't worth it. You have made wise decisions!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great quote. We've had lots of bumps in the road, but, I try to live by the same philosophy. Most of our best family memories have nothing to do with money. You can really run a body down with worry.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful message Sandy. Sometimes life does get overwhelming and we need to be reminded to simply take a deep breath and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteSo true Sandy. Many times I have to remind myself of that too.And like you we are living on one income and we are making it work.My Dad always told me 99% of what you worry about never even happens. And he is so right!

I enjoy your blog and admire your attitude. Today's quote about worry is just what I needed to hear. I waste hours worrying and thanks you you am going to approach things differently!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quote, I am writing this down! Good for you and hubby, no one needs stress and the rat race, it does not make for a memorable life
ReplyDeleteCarol
It is all about choice isn't it sweet friend? You are a special girl to have made the choice to be happy no matter what the circumstance is. You certainly have created a beautiful life.
ReplyDeleteA really great reminder Sandy...thanks for sharing! We are going through abit of worry at the minute about Wade's job...their contract isn't signed, they've been in negotiations since last August and the contract was up in October...still nothing. Now a few days ago, they've gone to Federal mediation...so that could be a good thing or a bad thing. Just praying that he doesn't have to go on strike...BUT, trying not to worry!!! I sound worried, don't I...LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful qoute so very true!! Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww... i loved reading this today. It is such a good reminder. I worry myself until i am sick too. It's a hard habit to break, so reading this post was just what i needed... thanks
ReplyDeleteCindy
thanks so much for that. sure is the truth tho isnt it?? i think i may make a sign with that. sure would give you a different perspective.... on a daily basis!! may make it so that its just automatically the way you may look at things instead of having to read it to get thru it. thanks so much. is truly a gift.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you have adopted this attitude and that you are happy with the simpler life. It is so true and I am glad that your husband is less stressed too. Nancy
ReplyDeleteYOU are the good in our lives, Sandy! God bless you for blessing us with your positive and grateful outlook on life! ♥

ReplyDeleteI stopped worrying back in the 90's! It does take the good from us!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by and your kind comment on the chalkboard backsplash!
I love your sweet sentiment and it is so simple and true. Focusing on the good has always been my philosophy, although it is difficult at times. So uplifting, and thanks for stopping by for a visit!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing that quote..that would be my mantra these days as like you I am a bag of worries. Previous experiences have led me to this state but I am going to try harder not to worry to much. I found something which I'm enjoying at the moment so I will do my best to keep it this way and plus I have my kids and hubby too :-)
ReplyDeleteSo true! You know it's hit home and things have changed inside of you when you can look back and truly be thankful for the things you've been through. We come out on the other side stronger and happier than ever! Your struggles were not in vein! Thank you for sharing and encouraging us with your story!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote Sandy. It helps to keep things in perspective. Thanks for lifting us up!
ReplyDeleteIt helps so much to just give it over, doesn't it? Great quote.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed looking over your last few posts and seeing all of your flowers, so pretty!

Such true words Sandy! And a beautiful photo to go with it. It is hard to leave everything up in God's hands, but worrying doesn't help either. Thank you for sharing. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts and I love the quote from the church. Worrying is not good for anyone. I'm glad you were able to get to a better place and that your family is still doing well.
ReplyDeleteSo true Sandy. It is hard sometimes to not worry about things, but I too try to just remember God has brought me this far and I know He'll take me even farther. I don't know what I would do without Him in my life...I'd be a mess, lol!
