Continuing in my theme for the year (year of the ruffle) I made a valance for the sunroom last night. This room is a walk thru room to my husbands fish room and the only reason I call it the sunroom is because it has a skylight. This is where I have my computer and all my crafting supplies. I decided it could use a more feminine touch.
Below is what the window looked like before
I think it looks so much prettier now!
For some reason the wall color is photographing funny today..it is not that yellowish color but looks more like the before picture. Not that I am going to do it anytime soon but I sure think that River Mist paint color would look beautiful in this room!
I think the valance really is flattering to my Ikea hanging light. They seem to kind of go together with the layers. I love that light, though it is a little more modern than I usually like.
Besides making the ruffled valance I made the lace inside curtain. It filters the light so beautifully. I have a bolt of that lace that I bought when Janae was a baby for her room. I guess I changed my mind or something because it never got used and I am happy to have it now! So this whole window project cost me 2.99--for a white sheet at Goodwill.
One more project done! Now I am excited to make some pretty pillows for that trunk. The ones on their now are store bought---which is fine, but handmade is much more to my liking. Back to the sewing machine!
Thanks for visiting!
Hi Sandy,
ReplyDeleteMy eyes go straight to your beautiful light fixture and I agree that the beautiful ruffled window treatment really compliments the light. I love this pretty room and that trunk is wonderful.

Hi Sandy :) What a fantastic job you did creating that beautiful ruffled valance! I've seen ones similar to this on Ebay for over $30! And I like yours much better because it has a little more layer of ruffles than those do. Can't wait to see what pretty pillows you will create to display on the trunk :)
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I will be hitting my favorite Goodwill stores, and hopefully I will leave each one with some sweet treasures :)
Have a great up-coming weekend!
Warmest hugs, Brenda
