My Grandma used to be a Avon lady and a couple years before she passed away she gave me all her old costume jewelry along with her old jewelry box. I found many treasures! The jewelry box was in bad shape (I had taken a before picture but I think I lost it when my computer died). At one point it had been painted a cream color. I wanted to keep it because it used to belong to Grandma so I decorated it up!
So of course I started by painting it white. I had seen a starfish decoration similar to what I created in a magazine and that is where I got my inspiration. I love the beach, and Grandma loved the beach (and actually lived at the beach) so the beachy look was perfect. I painted and glittered the starfish, adding pearls, and crystals and a brooch from my Grandma.
I think of Grandma every time I see it.
So sweet...I love decor that involves blue, so rare!

ReplyDeleteHi Sandy,
ReplyDeleteThe jewelry box is decorated in your style and I'm sure your Grandma would have love it too!
I think I fixed the linky. One person was able to link up... so I am not sure what was wrong.
Sorry about the linky mess up, I think I fixed it. As long as you have the link back to me "somewhere" on your blog, the sign up linky should work.
Please try again, and I am so sorry for the problem.
xoxo Bunny Jean
What a special jewelry box from your granny, nothing better than heirlooms! My mom and me loved the Avon lady when she called our house back than in the 60's, we loved the jewelry and everything else too! I love how you fix it up, it's so sweet, elegant and vintage looking. I am a new follower and it's funny, but I'm also sharing my "treasure box" at Bunny Hop party! Hugs, FABBY
