Roses, lilacs, and peonies have always been my favorite flowers with hydrangeas being in 4th place. Well, I have got to say they are moving up in the rankings. This is the first house I have had where I actually had good enough soil to grow my own. I have loved how they last for weeks in the house and now as the seasons change how their colors change. We are getting into our down pour rains that Oregon is so famous for and so I decided it was time to cut whats left of the hydrangeas. My parents were nice enough to let me cut theirs too. I have read on many blogs how there is just nothing to drying them so I am giving it a dry. I put them in dry areas of the house and I guess we will see what happens!
They have been in the house for several days now and look as pretty as the day I brought them in. The colors are so rich, and considering I don't like fall colors--these have become my fall colors! I hope they will dry beautifully and I am hoping to paint some, as I am told my Grandmother used to do. Wish me luck!
The colors of your hydrangeas are just beautiful! I grow them but I don't get colors like that here!
ReplyDeleteI searched online for birch bark wallpaper and found some but I just have to see it in person before I buy. It has to be just right. When I find something I like I'll be sure to drop you a note and I'll post it too. Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI love hydrangeas and your have such a variety! Gorgeous colors - mine are the pinky-purple ones. In 10 years, I've only had one season where the bush was full and beautiful! I think I had one this year. Visiting from Bunny Jean's Bunny Hop.

Such pretty colors. I just leave mine alone and they magically dry all by themselves. I had some in a big basket that I had had for at least ten years. I tripped when I was carrying them down the stairs on day and they all sort of exploded on impact, so now I am starting collecting them all over again.
